Rachel White
EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATOR
My Philosophy:
I acknowledge and respect the traditional owners of our land, the Gumbaynggirr people and the knowledge and traditions they bring to our community.
I respect a child’s right to be a child, to be in the present and to play. I respect a child's right to an education and to experience respectful relationships. I believe children learn skills for lifelong learning through play and the spontaneous and intentional teaching opportunities it provides. I believe in the importance of relationships between children and adults in the early years, and that children have a right to feel a sense of security with a trusting adult. I believe in supporting children to develop a sense of belonging within the service and their community as a foundation for future learning possibilities.
I believe in the importance of children connecting with and exploring nature and the environment. I believe in helping children develop life-long sustainable practices and life skills that they can carry with them throughout life. I wish to help children gain a love and respect for the environment and world they live in.
I believe in creating opportunities for children to develop an appreciation of different cultures.
I encourage appropriate risk-taking, exploration of the natural environment and challenging themselves within their play to become capable and confident. I encourage resilience and for children to become empathetic and understanding of themselves and to one another, respecting the rights of others.
I believe in building strong, trusting, positive relationships with the families and the community.

I believe that each child is an individual and as an Early Childhood Educator, I will value and develop each child's strengths, interests, skills, abilities and knowledge to extend their learning. I believe that children learn through play. I will provide opportunities for children to explore, discover, create and imagine. Every child is unique and special in their own way. I believe children learn and grow when they have a strong sense of belonging and are surrounded by positive energy in a positive environment. Children need to feel safe, secure and supported by their educators.
